The Night Sky, the Silver River (A Collection of Thirty-three Spiritual Poems)
Forcingmy sleepy eyes wide open,
Elongated my neck to look for the Magpie Bridge.
Where is it?"
I used to wipe my eyes repeatedly to look for the Magpie Bridge,
Not knowing it isn't there to be seen
Whenever the Silver River showed up in the night sky.
"Come now! Let's go inside the house and sleep."
Grandma woke up her grand-sons and grand-daughters --
Rubbing their eyes,
Wiping the drool off their chins with the back of their hands,
Little children were leaving the mung-seok with faltering steps.
Taking a step forward turned around and saw --
A crescent moon in the basin, where the corn and potatoes were,
A star-poop-star on the center of the mung0seok, and
A group of stars foring the Silver River,
From east to west and south to north.
Here's a Mung-seok Sky!""
